How to clean bathroom water damage?

Bathroom water damage if runs into other rooms can cause real havoc. It is difficult to determine from where one should begin, when the water damage has spoiled many things in the home. To begin with, locate the problem that has really caused the mess. Whether it was a leaking tap/ pipe, broken pipe or clogging in the bathroom, you need to detect the problem. The best way is to turn off the water supply from the mains immediately. This will prevent water from causing any further leakage and damage.

Start removing the water from the area using towels, water extraction equipment (easily available with water damage Restoration Company), rags, bucket or anything that helps you to extract water completely. After removing the water, wipe all the walls & surfaces (washbasin, tubs, and other hard surfaces). This will prevent growth of mold. Ventilate the bathroom. The airflow will help in keeping the odor at bay and will prevent growth of bacteria and molds completely. If on your way to cleaning, you come across laundry fabrics like towel, bath rugs, then squeeze the extra water out of them.

If the wall plaster has come out and debris is formed in the bathroom, then it is good to buy an industrial garbage bag or one time to use rags. For removing the debris use spade and wear gloves, eyewear and protecting clothing to prevent any injury.

Once you have cleaned, the bathroom de sanitized the floor, washbasin, surfaces, tubs, ceiling, etc. Meanwhile open the windows to remove the strong smell. After this use a bathroom, cleaner and normally clean the bathroom. Pay special attention to wooden paneling at the bottom of sink and around the floor.

If possible, check for mold growth. For this, you need to go around the bathroom and see the structure for any damages. Feel the walls and see that they are not soft or are discolored. If you witness anything of such type call a water damage restoration company

Concentrated peroxide is applied directly on the heavy stains. Alternatively mixture of peroxide and baking soda can be used. More peroxide may be sprayed as it dries out.

Shaving cream may be used to clean colored grout. Test this on a little spot before applying it to the entire area. After the stains get removed you need to re apply a coating of sealer.
